We have all experienced long exhausting weeks at work. Imagine that after one of those long weeks, you had the opportunity to go on the perfect weekend getaway.
So you pack your bags, and you’re about to go out of the door…when suddenly your leg begins to speak to you!
“You know, on second thought, I don’t feel like going anywhere today. I’m getting off my feet, and going off the clock.”
Before you can respond, your arm begins to stiffen, “I’m so mad!!!! Watch me punch the next person who walks by!”
Suddenly, you feel tears stream down your cheeks as your eyes begin to whine, “What’s our motivation????”
Oh my goodness, could you imagine? Talk about a ruined weekend!
Aren’t you so glad that your body parts don’t have a mind of their own?
Thank goodness our body parts are subservient to our minds. They are willing to do whatever we want, whenever we want to do it.
As Christians, we are called the body of Christ. Our very purpose is to do the good works He has already prepared for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).
But how will we get His will done if we are so busy carrying out our personal agenda?
We can only fulfill His will when we fully submitt to God’s every desire.
Check out what Romans 12:1 says,
“I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”
Wow, submitting to God is true worship!
Jesus says that if we love Him, we will keep His commands and allow ourselves to be guided by Him (John 14:15). The closer we draw to Him, the closer He will draw to us. When He is close to us, we will have a deeper revelation of His love. It’s this love of His that drives out all fear. So as we mature in His love, we will be confident and secure in where He is leading us.
So let us draw closer to Him. And may we always see the value, peace and need of being completely submitted to The Holy Spirit. Will you commit to submit?
